Hi Phil
I had in mind that if we had more heading it would be easier to trawl for what you are interested in without having to go through a lot which is not what you want at that time. Also it would help if a separate topic heading was started by the writer when the topic changes within a string.
I would suggest a heading for Midi, Organ tuning and possibly Transposing music, for a start.
Perhaps others have views on this topic?
Regards
Arthur

Ok Arthur
MIDI Organs, i say yes.
If we have that then maybe
Conventional organs.
And
Arranging and Transposing music.

But I think tuning should remain under Organ Technical.
But may reconsider that as I see ware your coming from on this.

So new headings under Organ Technical.

MIDI Organs.
Conventional organs.
Arranging and Transposing music.

Would this be what you’re suggesting?
The only thing I can see wrong with doing this is it will make the front-end forums seem very long, but I think you are correct.

Phil,

I don't think people will gripe too much about the large number of forums to go through. They will just skip the forums they are not interested in.

I welcome the separation, it will be easier to categorize things. :-)

Phil,

Although I'm new, if you need any help with the forum, I'm around a lot. I don't have all the experience you have (organ building), but I'm willing to put out the effort if you need any help.

Ok the new headings are up and running but I will have to find time to go through the forum and move posts into the relevant heading. If anyone as any suggestions for any posts that are currently in the Organ Technical that needs to be moved in to any of the new headings please let me no. Thanks

Tuning and Voicing would be ideal.

If only the watchers and experienced builders would come out of the woodwork.

Does the title of the group put them off,I wondered from the beginning if the word Amateur was off putting.

It would be encouraging particullarly for you if we could get more input into the forum.

I was thinking of changing the name of the forum and website to Alternative Organ Builders Group.
I don’t think Amateur in the title is much of a problem but again I will consider anything. I was trying to get the rights (Domain name) to AOB but its not up for grabs yet. But any change would probably be disastrous at this point as if you Google the AOBG or Phil Radford it comes at the top and that’s not as simple as one would think.

Phil,

I like the name as it stands. I wouldn't change anything, even if adding some different headings.

I like the break down so far, and think you should consider keeping the forum as AOBG.

Most people here are amateurs, and we are not scared to admit it.

Phil
The saying the "blind leading the blind" comes to mind!
I have no illusions about being an Amateur, however my point which I may not have made very clear is that the forum does not appear to attract other than Amateurs.
Any technical questions do not get replies from those who know, who may not wish to be associated with us.
I am seeking to get more constructive input into the forum which we do not seem to have at this time.
Since the conception of this forum we have had limited input.
This I have questioned for several years not just this last 2 months, no doubt those who have just joined the group will find that a lot of useful stuff has been posted, mainly by yourself.
Unfortunately I am not a linguist other wise I would be more interested in the continental forums.
I do get the daily digest from MMD and spend much time touring the archives, it is an absolute gold mine of information.
Perhaps I am making the wrong comparison.

Arthur,

Not to distract from this forum, you can always swing by Nick William's forum and learn from the pros, but remember that pros do things differently. I frequent there as well, but I try to be more active in this forum.

I am concerned with the amount of interaction that doesn't seem to take place in the forum. I figured people would be more active talking about listening to , building, repairing, restoring organs.

I'm not sure there is any way to inject life into the forum. I would just like to get the people actually registered to be active.

Just not sure how to perform this action,
