Bob, You did make the pipes very narrow? Without the frein, the sound should be very scratchy and unstable, jumping from high to low. The frein should make it stable at the lower pitch. It can be very tricky to adjust. Understand that you're unlikely to confuse a violin pipe with a "real" violin. Compared to a flute pipe however, they will have a very stringy sound with many more harmonics. Hope this helps. Bob Meyer |
