After years of procrastination, I decided to have a go at using hot hide glue. Got some glue, put together a simple glue pot, did some testing and got hooked.
The stuff is really amazing. It seems like all the effort in developing different types of wood glue in the last century was worthless.
Putting together a large reservoir/regulator with heavy leather using hide glue was a joy. No looking for clamps (and the way to apply then), no waiting for contact cement to get stick, no emergencies whatsoever.
My glue pot setup:
It was an almost wonderful experience. I got cursed by the wife for throwing away half a jar of her instant coffee. I needed the jar...
