I am building an organ using John smith rolls but with air valves. I have got most things sorted but I now have a problem with the paper going from one roll to the other. It tends to run off line. I have made the frame that holds the rolls as accurate as I can and even put threaded bar cross ways to ajust the square of the box. I would be grateful if anyone could help, thanks, GED
This sounds like your take up or spool off roll is not parallel. The roll take up spools must have parallel faces, or it can cause the paper to "drift".
I don't know if this will help, but I tried.

Thanks Herbie and Propllanttchech for replying. I have was trying to hold the paper down with a pad with holes in it but I have since made a roller with washers along its lenght and it seems to be working ok. I live in Newry and I started building this organ from bits of info that I gleaned from the internet and without a plan. I now know it was a mistake doing that way but I have persevered. I have now got all the air valves working and the paper seems to staying straight. I would be interested if anyone has got plans for air valves that are very reliable, Thanks again for replying. Ged
