I just discovered this forum today while visiting Art Johnson and Gene Kuntz to see their great midi organs.
I built a John Smith busker a few years ago and took it to the North American Model Engineer Show. Apparently at that show Art was hooked by the magic music of a busker organ and set off on his quest. Today at Arts house I observed his big midi organ and am now off on my quest for a similar macine.
Hi RonGinger. Art and Gene have done a superb job on their MIDI organs - I have seen their photographs and was priviledged to be able to help a little here and there. Please keep us informed how you progress with a MIDI organ yourself. There is a wealth of information to be had on AOBG. Best wishes. Bob Essex
Hi Ronginger I have recently finished building a midi organ to the John smith design, works great and much better than having to punch the paper like I did for my busker organ. Hope to see some photos of your progress. Regards
Hello Ron Fellow New Englander (RI). I've wanted to own a street organ or band organ for years, price has always been a stumbling block. I now realize that I can take my woodworking skills and make use of them. In your introduction letter you stated that you had constructed, from plans, a John Smith organ. How long did it take you and did you find it simple or moderate or a difficult project to complete? What model did you build? Ron Costa
